Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me show you around the Neurosurgical Clinic and outpatient department of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University.

As a university clinic, it is our top priority to provide advanced and specialized health care, train specialists and students as well as perform research in the identification and treatment of neurosurgical diseases. You will gain some insight into our daily routine, look at the premises of our clinic and find general information on neurosurgical diseases.

Dr. Volker Seifert

Educated at the Medical School at the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf. Dr. Volker Seifer received his neurosurgical training at the Hannover Medical School, which included a research fellowship for laser microneurosurgery at Northwestern University in Chicago. After completing his residency, he was appointed Assistant Professor and staff member of the Department of Neurosurgery in Hannover. For his fellowships he specialized in vascular and skull base microsurgery.

Dr. Seifert’s primary research and clinical interests are centered on vascular neurosurgery. His experimental research has focused on the origin of cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage and this led to his Ph.D. thesis. In 1990 he received the Academic Research Prize of the German Society of Neurology for outstanding contributions to the field of Neurovascular Research.

After accepting positions at several Universities, in 1999 Dr. Seifert was appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Geothe University in Frankfurt am Main. In 2001 he was also made Director of the Center of Clinical Neurosciences at the University Clinic Frankfurt am Main, which is regarded as one of the leading neurosurgical centers in Europe for complex neurovascular and brain tumor microsurgery. He has co-authored over 400 scientific publications on vascular neurosurgery, image-guided brain tumor surgery and skull base surgery, and is currently President of the German Society of Neurosurgery.

The treatment inquiry that you need to send to the International Office builds the basis for our further cooperation. The goal of such treatment request is to equip the respective chief physician with the necessary information in order for him or her to develop a therapy plan for you, therefore, please make sure that your treatment request is clearly and concisely structured. What is more, it must contain detailed information regarding your medical history, primary and secondary diagnosis etc.

Also, please remember to mention the kind of treatment you would like to undergo here in hospital. The request needs to be written either in German or English and then sent to International Offive via e-mail or post. Make sure to enclose your recent medical records, CT/MRI/X-Ray images, as well as your medical history (these documents need to be translated into English or German) - this facilitates the processing of medical inquiries to a great extent.
Once the Intenational Office has received your records, they will be forwarded to the respective department for evaluation. They are doing their best to send you a prompt response to your inquiry.

Driving directions:

From interchange Frankfurter Kreuz on A5 to Kassel continue to exit Niederrad. Follow Niederräder Ufer right up to Deutschordenstraße.Turn right and take the third street right (Kelsterbacher Str.). Turn into Schleusenweg and proceed to parking lot.



By tram:

From Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof  trams number 12, 15 (to Niederrad) or 21 (to Stadion) to Heinrich-Hoffmann-Straße / Blutspendedienst. Walk along Heinrich-Hoffmann-Straße up to the Orthopädische Klinik, then turn left into footpath and proceed to Haus 95.
