The Department for Immunology at the Hospital for Children and Adolescents of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt focuses on diagnostic and treatment of primary immunodeficiencies.

In collaboration with our immunological laboratory we offer several investigations for the extended immunological diagnostics (diagnostic sheet). For patients with complex disease manifestations we regularly offer interdisciplinary meetings with our colleagues of the departments of pediatric hematology, gastroenterology and endocrinology. We participate in a series of national and international studies to provide better care for our patients and contribute to translational research in the field of PID (ongoing studies).

Besides immunological clarification in children with recurrent infections, we care for more than 100 patients with confirmed primary immunodeficiency syndromes. We offer a wide spectrum of individual and disease-specific treatment options ranging from immunoglobulin replacement treatment to allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Besides accurate diagnosis and treatment our interdisciplinary team offers comprehensive consultation and medical attendance for various patient age groups. We are looking in particular after children and adolescents but young adults and families are under our care as well. Together with our colleagues of the Department of Internal Medicine we offer special consulting hours for adolescents to facilitate the transition to adults with regard to their immunodeficiency.
